The Murder at Wigwell Grange

Our next Heritage Talk, at 7.30pm on Friday 4th September, is ‘Murder at Wigwell Grange – a local story that went national’. Just to the east of Wirksworth lies Wirksworth Moor and Wigwell Grange, scene of a grisly Victorian murder.  Sally Barkley-Smith recounts the story of the house, its occupants, and how one day in 1863 provoked a storm that hit the headlines in London.

The talk will be delivered to you online through Zoom (which is free to use, and we will send you instructions).  In order to cover our costs and begin generating much needed income for the charity which runs the Heritage Centre, we are charging £5 for tickets for this event, bookable through this page on our website (You do not need a Paypal account – please follow the instructions on the page to pay by credit card). When we receive confirmation of your payment we will send out a joining link.  If you have any other queries or would like to join our event mailing list, please contact us at info@wirksworthheritagecentre.org.
