Event Details

Family connections with Wirksworth, together with an interest in the railways of Derbyshire, led Howard Sprenger to start researching into the history of the Wirksworth branch while at school in Duffield in the 1960s. His history of the line was published in 1987, with a second edition appearing in 2004. It has recently been reprinted with minor updates. This talk will focus on the history of the origins and building of the line followed by a photographic journey from Duffield to Wirksworth with some stories along the way.

This talk begins at 7.30pm on Friday 25th June 2021.

The talk will be delivered to you online through Zoom (which is free to use, and we will send you instructions).  In order to cover our costs and begin generating much needed income for the charity which runs the Heritage Centre, we are charging £5 for tickets for this event, bookable through the events page on our website (You do not need a Paypal account – please follow the instructions on the page to pay by credit card). When we receive confirmation of your payment we will send out a joining link.  If you have any other queries or would like to join our event mailing list, please contact us at info@wirksworthheritagecentre.org.
