We’ve got plenty to see and listen to on Wirksworth’s Big Book Day.  Each session costs £3 per person – please email us at info@wirksworthheritagecentre.org to tell us your booking choice;

10.45am  Roz Watkins (author of the locally based DI Meg Dalton crime series) discusses her books including ‘Devil’s Dice (shortlisted for Debut Dagger and the Times crime book of the month).  Roz will be available to sign books afterwards.

11.30am  Claire Peacey explains how to make a book cover that really works.  She takes you through all the design elements; silhouette, image hierarchy, the importance of typography, copyright considerations, and how to get the best from your cover artist.

1.00pm  Daniel Henshaw, children’s author, is well known for his ‘The Great Snail Robbery’ and ‘The Curious Case of the Missing Orangutan’.  Bring the kids along to join Daniel for role playing and reading from his books.

2.00pm  Children’s Crafts – Design and decorate a ‘book cover’ that’s really a keepsake box.

We’re also expecting a flying visit from local poet Rob Stamper (12 noon).
