Event Details

Fundraiser kindly organised by the Wirksworth Historians as part of the Wirksworth Street Museum.
Start at the Memorial Gardens
Join Rob Stamper, the Bard of Middleton on a poetic walking tour through the history of Wirksworth’s shops and shopkeepers.
Meet Killer’s, Payne’s and Piggy Hawley, and visit Hilton’s Shoe Shop, Blitz Records and the Co-op Draper’s.
Don’t worry! There will be an historian on hand to help Rob get his facts right.
Each tour will take between one and one and a half hours and start at the Memorial Gardens. The route is easy walking around Wirksworth’s main street on pavements which are wheelchair/scooter friendly.
Booking in advance is essential as numbers are limited. Please book at Wirksworth Heritage Centre for £1.
Donations on the day are welcome for Aquabox.
Tours follow current government guidelines for covid-safe guided walks. Rob will remain 2m from you (some say that’s a blessing!). Please keep in your own group and socially distance from other groups. You do not need to wear a face mask but are welcome to do so if you prefer.
